Butler County Motorplex Ð Rising City, NE - June 18, 2009 Recap

Kyle Berck did double-duty at Butler County Motorplex Friday night after rain tried to cancel the show for the week.  Berck won both the IMCA Modified A-feature and the SLMR Late Model feature at the speedway.

The first heat races of the night were in the IMCA Sport Mod division.  Kyle Harpster won the first heat followed by Ron Allen, Kyle Chalek and Anthony Kobus.  Heat number two honors went to Jesse Sobbing of Glenwood IA.  Rod Bronson was second, Kevin Kloke third and fourth was Jim Hendricks.

J.J. Fritz took the lead in the first of three IMCA Modified heat races.  Kyle Berck took control on lap five and went on to win.  Brian Levander moved into second followed by Jim Krupicka and Sean Burklund.  Tom Svoboda controlled the second heat for the win.  James Kleinheksel was second, Jeff Jones third and Dana Dankert fourth.  The final modified heat race was led the entire distance by Greg Johns.  Chris Alcorn finished second followed by Scott Styskal and Randy Brown.

John Nicholson from Plattsmouth won the first of two SLMR Late Model heats after taking the lead from Travis Dickes on lap number two.  Steve Kempt moved up for second with Dickes third and Kyle Berck was fourth.  Mike Marushak held off the competitors and led the entire race for the win in heat number two.  Todd Bell was second, Mike Wiarda third and Mike Collins was fourth.

IMCA Hobby Stock driver Tiffany Bittner grabbed the lead in the first heat race but Dusty Poessnecker took the lead on lap three and continued for the win.  Bittner finished second with Jeremy Hoskinson third and Nelson Vollbrecht was fourth.  Josh Kennell took the lead from Kyle Hein on lap three of the second heat race and continued for the win.  Brady Fernau moved up to take second with Brandon Kresha third and Hein dropped to fourth.  Eric Hanson controlled the final Hobby Stock heat race with a win.  Jim Buss finished second, Mike Goldfuss was third and Lee Kracht fourth.

IMCA Sport Compact driver Nic Hitz led the first of two heat races from green to checkered flag for the win.  Garrett Rech was second, John Sedlachek was third and Tyler Leicy fourth.  Jeff Davis won the second heat after taking the lead as the race began.  Jeremy Noonan was second, Mary Lenz third and Ricky Harris fourth.

Nic Hitz took the lead in the Sport Compact feature and continued the caution free race for the win.  Jeremy Noonan was second, Mike Poland third and Garrett Rech fourth.

Jim Buss made good use of his front row starting position as he took the lead in the caution free IMCA Hobby Stock A-feature and held on for the win.  Lee Kracht finished .25 second behind Buss for second with Poessnecker in third and Jeremy Hoskinson was fourth.

Nathan Kobus took the lead as the IMCA Sport Mod feature began.  Two laps later Jesse Sobbing took control and stretched his lead to get the win.  Ron Allen finished second with Kyle Harpster third and Jim Hendricks was fourth.

The caution plagued IMCA Modified feature saw Tom Svoboda take the lead from Greg Johns on lap number two.  Svoboda continued his lead until the white flag lap as Kyle Berck got the lead after the final caution and stole the win.  Svoboda was second followed by James Kleinheksel and Shane Stutzman.

Kyle Berck started on the pole for the SLMR Late Model A-feature and continued for his second win of the night.  Travis Dickes moved up to finish second with Mike Wiarda third and Al Humphrey was fourth.  Berck avoided what could have been a serious accident as a car with problems made a last second decision to move from the bottom edge of the racing surface and exit to the pit area.
