Butler County Motorplex Ð Rising City, NE - July 24, 2009

The night got off to a good start even though there were some clouds around the area Friday night.  A light sprinkle did delay the program for a short time but the program was over before 11:00 pm despite a short rain delay during the races.

Nathan Kobus took the first checkered flag of the night after leading the first of two IMCA Sport Mod heat race from start to finish.  Kevin Kloke finished in second with Chad Borgman third and Nick Topil was fourth.  Anthony Kobus led the second heat race for the first six laps but then positions changed.  Max Harder took the lead  with four laps remaining.  Harder continued for the win with Ron Allen in second, Denny Berghahn Jr. moved up for third and Kyle Harpster was fourth.

Jim Krupicka controlled the first of three IMCA Modified heats to take the win.  Randy Edwards took a nasty flip on the first lap and was done for the night.  Terry Richards challenged for second place as he held off Shane Stutzman and Justin Wulf.  Scott Styskal got the win in the second heat race.  Jeff Jones was second, Jarrod Wiechert third and Mike Stearns fourth.  Heat number three had three different leaders.  Dan Rhiley led the first lap but Shane Hiatt took the lead on lap number two.  James Kleinheksel took the lead from Hiatt on lap six and continued for the win.  Lance Borgman moved up to take second with Hiatt third and Dan Rhiley was fourth.

Rodney Nosker led the first of two IMCA Sport Compact heats for the distance to take the win.  Nic Hitz was second as Jeremy Noonan took third and fourth went to Ricky Harris.  Tyler Leicy took the lead in heat number two but Garrett Rech took the lead on lap number three.  Leicy led the white flag lap but Rech crossed the finish line first for the win.  Leicy was second as John Sedlachek and Erik Nelson rounded out the top four.

Josh Kennell seemed to be on a mission as he took the lead in the first IMCA Hobby Stock heat race.  Kennell continued his lead for the win.  Eric Hanson finished second as Lee Kracht was third and Kyle Hein fourth.  Paul Albracht led the distance in heat number two for the win.  Brady Fernau controlled second place as Branden Wergin was third and Brandon Kresha fourth.

John Sedlachek was fast in the IMCA Compact feature as he took the win.  Erik Nelson managed to move into second place as Nic Hitz and Tyler Leicy rounded out the top four.

Paul Albracht led the first two laps in the IMCA Hobby Stock feature before Eric Hanson took control of the race.  Hanson managed to hold off all competitors and take the win.  Dusty Poessnecker finished second, Paul Albracht was third and Josh Kennell was fourth as Kyle Hein who crossed the line in fourth was disqualified during tech inspection following the race.

Nathan Kobus led the first four laps of the IMCA Sport Mod feature before Kevin Kloke took control of the race.  Kloke continued to stretch his lead and get the win.  Kyle Harpster was second, Chad Borgman third and Denny Berghahn Jr took fourth.

Justin Wulf led lap number one of the IMCA Modifed feature but Jim Krupicka took the lead on lap number two.  Krupicka continued his lead until lap number eleven as Terry Richards managed to take the front position.  Richards controlled the rest of the race to make it two in a row.  Scott Styskal held on for second place with Chris Alcorn in third and fourth went to Shane Stutzman.  Alcorn and Stutzman are making the battle for points very tight as Stutzman now leads by two points.

We hope all the race fans will come to Butler County Motorplex Monday July 27 for the special Midgets and Late Model show.
